HFA member of Royal Palm Beach, Fla. has been sold to an affiliate of furniture retailer Rooms to Go.
Cleveland-based Weinberg Capital Group, which owned Carls Patio, announced the sale last week. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Carls Patio, founded in 1992, is a retailer of luxury outdoor furniture and accessories mostly serving the south Florida market. It owns a proprietary line called Fifth & Shore and has a proprietary pillow line marketed under the Haberdashery brand name.
Products are sold online and through 11 specialty retail stores. Carls Patio amassed $22 million in sales last year, according to Furniture Today. Weinberg acquired the business in March 2013.
“I would like to thank all of our valued employees at Carls for the hard work over the past five years,” said Weinberg director and principal Ronald Weinberg Sr. in a statement. “We’ve seen many successes as well as some challenges and we will fondly remember our time as owners.”
Weinberg noted the in addition to the new brands, they opened four of those locations in their footprint and converted advertising from a focus on print to television and digital channels.
“I am confident that with its broad geographic reach, significant advertising platform and purchasing power, Rooms To Go is poised to enter the outdoor furniture market in a significant way,” Weinberg added.
Paul Otowchits, former president of Carls, has accepted a senior leadership position with Rooms To Go, where he will continue to focus on the outdoor furniture segment. All other employees of Carls have also been offered employment by Rooms to Go following the close of the deal.
