HFA Celebrates Retailers

June 2017—

Monday night the stars were big and bright in San Antonio as HFA recognized its award-winning retailers.

Cynthia Heathcoe, Contemporary Living, accepting her HFA Emerging Star award.

During the Denim and Diamonds-themed celebration, winners garnered standing ovations as they received their awards. Cynthia Heathcoe, owner of Contemporary Living, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. struck an emotional chord with attendees as she accepted her Emerging Star award and shared a bit of the journey that brought her out of a homeless shelter and onto the stage.


Jake Jabs, American Furniture Warehouse, accepting his HFA Trailblazer award.

Jake Jabs, founder of American Furniture Warehouse, Englewood, Colo., brought his daughter, Jackie Brookshire, on stage with him to accept the Trailblazer award. Brookshire said, “I’m proud of Jake and all that he’s accomplished. In the sessions and presentations today we’ve heard that you need to do this to be successful or that and I think, hey, we’re doing that at American Furniture Warehouse.”

The HFA also celebrated its Retailers of the Year, Hudson’s Furniture, Sanford, Fla. and Sunnyland Outdoor Furniture, Dallas.

Josh turned his family’s business, Hudson’s Furniture around with the help of his brother Adam, but he also recognized the great efforts from his team and his father, Fred. He chalked Hudson’s success up to one word—endurance.

David Schweig, Sunnyland Outdoor Funriture, accepting the HFA 2017 Retailer of the Year award.

David Schweig turned a niche market—casual furniture—into a Dallas success. David and his son Brad have grown their business through partnerships, expansion, and great customer service. They’re the first casual furniture retailer to win HFA’s Retailer of the Year.
