HFA member Furniture Mall of Kansas is donating more than 100 mattresses, box springs, sheets sets, and pillows to area children in a partnership with Love Fund 4 Children’s Love Fund 4 Children’s “Sweet Dreams” program.
Allyson Summers, executive director of the Love Fund for Children, said the generosity of Furniture Mall of Kansas us much needed. “On average the Love Fund for Children receives two to three requests a week from youth advocates in need of beds for children in our community,” she said. “Many times we learn that the children are sleeping on the floor, on sofas, or crowded into bed with several family members.”
Summers said poor sleeping habits lead to sleep loss, which can impact a child’s health and performance in school. She said the Love Fund is excited to partner with the Furniture Mall of Kansas to offer new beds to over 100 children in the Kansas City community in 2018.
“We believe every child should have the opportunity to be their best, and getting good sleep increases those odds,” said Jeff Winter, co-owner of Furniture Mall of Kansas. “What an opportunity to partner with the Love Fund and help invest in our children’s future.”
The Love Fund partnership extends Furniture Mall of Kansas’ continued charitable outreach with ongoing projects to help the Topeka Union Mission, Rest for Success, St. Jude’s, and the City Union Mission in Kansas City.
