HFA member Ashley Furniture Industries announced Wednesday the company will build a $65 million, 850,000-square-foot distribution and fulfillment center in Mesquite, Texas. The new site will bring nearly 350 full-time jobs to the community.
Mesquite Mayor Stan Pickett said, “Economic development and job creation are two of the City Council’s top policy issues. We could not be more proud and excited that Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc. has chosen the Mesquite community to call home for their next distribution and fulfillment facility.”
Pickett isn’t just Mesquite’s mayor, he’s also owner of Quality Furniture and Appliance in town and an HFA Board and Executive Committee member.
Mesquite has agreed to provide tax abatement incentives and will waive development fees for the project.
“The city of Mesquite has embraced our company and has proven to be a business friendly environment with a strong workforce, allowing ample opportunity for growth,” Todd Wanek, president and CEO of Ashley Furniture Industries, said in a prepared statement.
“As a customer-centric company, the investment to build in Mesquite is one we feel will result in improved efficiencies to better serve our worldwide customers.”
The agreement also encourages Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc. to make future investments in Mesquite by significantly increasing the size of the proposed facility and the number of local jobs.
